Painting representing Octavian and Cleopatra after the battle of Actium which saw the defeat of Mark Antony. Copy from the beginning of the 19th century based on the original painting by the painter Louis Gauffier (1762-1801) painted in 1788 which is in the National gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh. The scene takes place in Cleopatra's palace in Alexandria and we can see in addition to the two protagonists, a statue and a bust of Julius Caesar who was Cleopatra's lover who gave him a son, Caesarion.
