Object description :

"Oil On Canvas By Francis Bott Dated 57. Abstract Composition."
It is with great pleasure that I offer you this magnificent work by Francis Bott. The canvas is in excellent condition, signed and dated 57. On the back, gallery label in Paris and label with the name "KOMPOSITION" and the dimensions of the canvas, 46 cm x 61 cm. Dimensions with frame, 80.5 cm x 66 cm. Ernst Bott, known as Francis Bott, is a German painter of the Second School of Paris, born in 1904 in Frankfurt am Main, and died in 1998 in Lugano. As a teenager, he lived a nomadic life between Berlin, the United States, Mexico and Austria. He met the Austrian expressionist Oskar Kokoshka in Prague in the early 1930s, who encouraged him to pursue an artistic career. He then turned to surrealism, encouraged by Francis Picabia, and participated in the International Surrealism Exhibition at the Maeght gallery in 1947. However, he quickly distanced himself from surrealism to dedicate himself to abstraction. From the 1950s, he developed a personal technique which consisted of applying clusters of colors with a spatula to his canvas, bringing his work closer to the tachist style. I attach the commentary from Bénézit (dictionary of painters) indicating the museums where one can see his works. The artist is obviously very well referenced.
