Third Quarter 18th Century Tapestry With “hot Hand Game” flag

Object description :

"Third Quarter 18th Century Tapestry With “hot Hand Game”"
Wonderful tapestry made with a wool and silk weave, which portrays the famous "Hot Hand Game". This ancient parlor game was very popular in centuries past and often depicted in works of art. In the center of the tapestry there are six figures dressed in eighteenth-century noble clothes, immersed in a forest. A man in a blue jacket, reclining on a lady's legs and with his hand open behind his back, turns towards the standing woman with the garland around her neck, who playfully hit him, as indicated by the other figures. The joyful atmosphere of the scene is highlighted by the smiles of the characters, while the elegant and worldly air is underlined by the clothes and gestures of the protagonists. The tapestry and the scene are finally enriched by a border with spirals and garlands of roses and leaves. The work is in excellent condition, with bright colors and a high quality production technique. The tapestry is believed to have been produced at the renowned French royal manufactory of Aubusson, in the third quarter of the 18th century. It is a unique work, rich in history and of great value, capable of elegantly embellishing any environment.
