"Théodore Gudin - Boats At Sea - Wash - Marine - Circa 1850"
Drawing by Théodore Gudin (1802-1880) Wash signed lower left representing a ship on rough seas. At the bottom two other boats. Family tradition attributed this painting to Théodore Gudin, which was confirmed by deframing it and finding the signature at the bottom left. The previous owners, great collectors, had among other things a small collection of marines including this drawing by Gudin. They wrote on the back: “Théodore Gudin, this is perhaps the most valuable painting in our modest collection of seascapes.” 17 x 28 cm Around 1850
