"Empire Period Clock In Gilt Bronze On The Theme Of Peace And Loyalty."
Finely chiseled gilded bronze clock, decorated with palmettes, a flower vase and garlands of flowers. On the left side, there is a goddess from Ancient Greece holding in her left hand an olive branch symbolizing peace, her gaze turned towards a butterfly resting on a planter of flowers. A dog trained on its hind legs and stationed at the character's feet symbolizes loyalty. On the right side, a large Medici vase is placed on a column. The enameled dial with Roman numerals is signed “Le Roy et Fils Horlogers du Roi à Paris”. Good condition, small chip on the dial and slight shift at the character's belt (see photo). Movement with its key and its wire balance, to be serviced. Period first third of the 19th century. W/D/H: 33.5 x 13 x 41.5 cm.
