"Rare Doublet Styletto, Italy 17th Century"
This little Italian dagger is a rarity. This is an example of the small stilettos worn inside clothing in the 17th century, and known as the "doublet stiletto". This weapon was therefore carried very discreetly, in a pocket provided for this purpose, directly on the coat. Few examples have survived to the present dayBLADE: after a bulb-shaped ricasso with 8 faces, it takes a shape with 4 faces which thin to form the point Length of the blade = 13.3 cm, width at the ricasso = 9mm, after the ricasso = 7mm, thickness after the ricasso = 7.3 mm
GUARD = This is a small guard typical of styli, it measures 4.5 cm wide at the quillons. It is made up of a rectangular central part and two quillons ending in balls
POMMEL: pretty mushroom-shaped pommel, topped with a button to which the tang of the blade is riveted.
GRIP: it is made of organic material, probably bone. In one piece, with the usual small age-related marks.
It is therefore a particularly unusual, elegant weapon, which by its rarity will complement a collection of daggers from this period
