Object description :

"Portrait Of A Young Prince. By Jean Ducayer XVIIth Century"
Oil on oak panel (one board) Presented in a period frame in gilded and carved wood Total dimensions: 47 x 40 cm. The panel alone: 34 x 26.5 cm. This delightful portrait with a delicate face, executed around 1620, represents a young prince with blue eyes and long hair falling in curls over his shoulders. His costume is fashionable at the start of the reign of Louis XIII. Large collar of fine starched lace, puffed sleeves and large gold chain bezel-set with precious stones. At that time, boys and girls were dressed almost the same way. Jean Ducayer, this still little-known painter, was active in France during the first quarter of the 17th century. Several small portraits of young women, and more rarely of men, are attributed to this artist, always in approximately the same formats and with the same morphotype. He was probably the student of François Clouet. Very good condition. Sold with invoice & certificate.
