"Bronze “eagle Hunting”, Signed J.de Roncourt, Art Deco - 1930"
Bronze group with green patina signed at the tip on the terrace by the French sculptor Jean de Roncourt (19th/20th century). This artist who reached the height of his glory during the Art Deco period is renowned for shaping with a certain virtuosity the bodies of athletes in full physical exertion. This work depicts a man hunting an eagle. The bird, trapped, is about to receive the fatal blow. These sculptures rest on a rectangular black marble base. The man leans on an alabaster element which adds a touch of contrast to the whole. This bronze group evokes a scene that is both beautiful and unparalleled cruelty. ******** Period: 1930 Excellent condition.
