"Museum: Historic Cake Carved Mold, 1806 In Honor Of Napoleon's Visit To Louisbourg"
Beautiful solid pear mold of 27 x 17.5 x 3cm, engraved by Mr. Eylin of Strasbourg, (signed on edge), allowing Mr. Dorn, confectioner in Louisbourg (signed on other edge) to create by molding sweets a piece assembled in honor of the visit on January 18, 1806 of Napoleon Bonaparte, accompanied by Josephine to the King of Württemberg Frederick I in his residential palace in Ludwigsburg. A feast was served in the antechamber next to the “green carpet room.”This protocol visit had great importance in organization of alliances that followed.
According to my reading of this mold, the architectural confectionery, with a height of approximately 40cm, must have featured a 4-sided obelisk, resting on 4 ball feet, decorated with the conquering Imperial eagle, (thunder between its claws) placed on a square fluted sheath, molded of laurels and roses all on a large cake base.
This wooden mold is in excellent condition, probably carefully stored, little wear and not a wormhole.
27 x 17.5 x 3cm,
