Japanese-style living room set composed of a sofa and 2 armchairs entirely carved with Asian symbols: fans, armrests with dragon heads, feet in the shape of animal paws, flowers and openwork Chinese knots

The seats are covered in a silky blue fabric with floral decor

Good general condition, some small losses; missing the backrest trimmings and perhaps pediment elements on the top of the backrests

Work in the style of Gabriel Viardot: French cabinetmaker, Gabriel Viardot will very quickly become interested in Japonism, an artistic movement in vogue at his time. He will be one of the first to make it his specialty: Maison Viardot will produce furniture in Chinese or Japanese styles, adapted to European tastes and while including ornaments truly from Asia (lacquer panels, mother-of-pearl ).
