Terracotta sculpture with brown patina titled “Tiger on the Lookout” and signed Thomas Cartier (1879-1943). Born in Marseille and a student of Georges Gardet, Cartier is an animal sculptor who has won numerous awards, notably at the Paris Salon in 1927, where he won the gold medal. This work depicts a tiger walking, with soft steps, on the lookout for its environment. The artist represents with great mastery the smallest details of this great hunting feline. An animal as captivating as it is merciless.
