Small Nogwi figure from the Nokuma people collected in the village of Amaki in Papua New Guinea. The nogwi intervenes during the third yam ceremony celebrating its harvest. The nogwi symbolizes the birth of this sacred tuber. It aims to satisfy the ancestors to obtain a good future harvest. This third and final ceremony is reserved for initiates.
