Anthony van Dyck (1599 – 1641): was a Flemish Baroque artist who, after achieving success in the Spanish Netherlands and Italy, became a leading court painter in England. A student of Rubens, he produced many famous works on religious subjects, portraits and genre scenes.
Pieter van Schuppen (1627-1702): Born in Antwerp, apprentice in 1638-9, master at the guild of Saint-Luc in 1651/2, he moved to Paris in 1655 as an associate of Nanteuil, where he remained until at the end of his life. He left around 119 works, mainly portraits of famous figures of his time, such as Cardinal Rinaldo d'Este, Mazarin and King Louis XIV of France. Some of them were made after his own drawings, and he also reproduced historical paintings by other artists, for example Saint Sebastian by Anthony van Dyck.
Jan Meyssens (1612-1670): Painter, engraver and publisher. Born in Brussels in 1612, he moved to Antwerp in 1640, where he died in 1670. He published works by Wenceslaus Hollar and engravings representing portraits of artists, "Diverse Hommes d'Esprit sublime", in the style of van Dyck's iconography.
