"Pair Of Impressionist Ceramic Lamps, 1876 – 1881."
These very beautiful lamps come from the Auteuil workshops created by Haviland in 1872. Their bodies are delicately painted with slip with a decoration of flowering branches, full of poetry and which stands out against a nuanced green background. These so-called impressionist ceramics were produced in the last quarter of the 19th century by a few prestigious factories, the Haviland factory being one of them. The bare ornamentation, as well as the rich bronze frame, illustrate the taste for Japonism in the second half of the 19th century and already heralds Art Nouveau. They are signed in the EG decor for Édouard Girard who was a flower painter at the Ateliers d'Auteuil from 1876 to 1881, this allows us to date them precisely. The Auteuil workshops closed in 1883. These lamps are electrified, we present them with a basic lampshade in order to give the customer the choice of colors and shape, the latter do not always justify the shipping costs. A tiny little enamel break should be noted on a protruding part of the lamp. They measure with the lampshade 69 cm and without the lampshade 37 cm.
