Object description :

"Large Italian Monstrance With 13 Relics – Mid 18th Century"
Carved in wood, it accommodates fixed on a base, a large octagonal monstrance offering to the eye an octagonal painting also, luminous and painted on wood. Our tender Nativity scene is surrounded by eight relics on a red fabric background.
The color red like the eight of the octagon are Christ symbols. The relics dedicated to devotion at the level of this monstrance are those of Saints Adiuti Martyr, Anthony of Padua, Elisabeth, Teresa the Virgin, Cordre Martyr, Theoloctis, Venustis Martyr and Saint Victory the Virgin. On the terrace are five equally clearly visible and bagged ex-ossibus relics of the Saints of the first centuries. Namely, Saint Severinus, Saint Florian, Saint Ambrose Bishop, Saint Audacie Martyr and Saint Magnus. The whole is crowned with a crown bearing a cross, symbol of the earthly and celestial reign of Christ.
Finally, cherubs and various patterns in gilded brass enrich this remarkable piece. Good condition - note some small losses and a slight crack on the window of a niche on a base. The stretched glass of the monstrance is original.
