For information: The Pouyat porcelain factory was one of the most powerful factories in Limoges on an industrial level but also one of the most prestigious on an artistic level. In 1860, the company had 500 workers, 5 wood-fired ovens in operation and a sixth, coal-fired, under construction. A third of production is exported, mainly to America, placing the company in second position behind the Haviland factory. The Pouyat family is an example in more than one way: it has been present since the discovery of kaolin in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche it owns the three phases of production it innovates in its technical choices as well as in its artistic options she collects distinctions at the international level. The POUYAT factory is renowned for its pure and dazzling white porcelain, hence “les blanc de POUYAT” thanks to its discovery of Kaolin, it was therefore the main supplier of Kaolin to the Sèvres factory.
