Minja type figure collected in the village of Nagri in Papua New Guinea (Washkuk hills). The Minja figure represents a water spirit and is synonymous with fertility. This figure, which symbolizes the period of growth of the yam in the ground, is used to celebrate the harvest of these sacred tubers during a second ceremony in a cycle which includes three.
