"Small Blackened Wood Desk "
Small blackened wooden desk resting on four arched legs. The belt and the top are decorated with a brass net forming frames and geometric patterns. The desk opens with a lockable drawer on the side using a gilded bronze keyhole. The top of the desk is lined with red leather. Regency period Usual restorations, old leather H. 71 x L. 82 x D. 51.5 cm The flat desk appeared at the beginning of the 18th century, while the Mazarin desk was in decline in furniture production, due to its significant volumes. The flat desk, on the contrary, enjoyed certain success, to the point that as early as the Regency, distinctions were created among flat desks. The small proportions of ours indicate that this is a woman's desk. We find the same brass patterns on a large flat desk that we exhibit at the Gallery.
