Bronze subject representing a hare signed VIDAL The Blind Louis Vidal known as the Blind was born in Nimes on December 6, 1831 and died on May 9, 1892 in Paris. He studied anatomy but became blind in 1853, which prevented him from pursuing this path. He studied with animal sculptors Antoine Louis Barye and Pierre Louis Rouillard and became an animal sculptor himself by replacing sight with touch.
