Born in Paris in 1914, Maurice ANDRE was in Aubusson from 1940 to 1945 with Lurçat, Gromaire and many other artists. In 1945 he founded a cooperative group “Tapisserie de France” while continuing to be a member of the Association of Tapestry Painters and Cardboard Makers.
He produces various works, tapestries and rugs, paintings and watercolors. Architecture and frescoes are for him the best points of comparison: he loves their logic and simplicity and he was able to draw inspiration from them with great economy of means.
Some of his carpets are kept at the Mobilier national in Paris.

Condition: visible wear, a round spot at the top right in the barely visible beige background, on the two parallel edges in the width tears, slight peeling on the back of the carpet which does not impact its solidity.
