Object description :

"Sarouck Rug, 115 Cm X 165 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool In Iran Circa 1970-1980 In Perfect Condition"
heavy and thick Sarough, circa 1970-1980 in perfect condition, velvet, selvedges and fringes.
It measures 115cm x 165cm in length. High quality wool rug.
very durable piece, with beautiful colors, mainly ivory, blue, a dominant dark red and pale yellow.
A curry yellow, almond green, and buff color are also present.
The entire decoration is complex, it presents a red field, decorated with bouquets of flowers placed around a medallion placed with four points. Medallion accompanied by two small pendants in the form of a halberd, or fleur-de-lis and four skillfully drawn spandrels with an ivory outline and black background.
This Sarouk differs from the Sarouk and Mir by this design covering the field, its medallion and its flowery angles.
The shades are fresh and the thick, soft velvet is in perfect condition. The edges are impeccable as are the fringes of the original length.
This rug is a beautiful decorative and comfortable piece, the decor is abundant, beautifully designed, the wool is high quality.
The Sarough carpet, or Sarouk, the Ecbatana of Antiquity, is knotted in a few villages near Sarouk in the agricultural region of Arak.
European buying houses have had agencies there since the mid-19th century.
Most of these rugs are nicknamed hamadan by traders, particularly the runner rugs knotted in this region.
These Persian or Indo-Persian rugs remain very popular in the United States where decorators appreciate the heavy and important luxurious wool pieces.
