Circa 1860 France or Provence Beautiful vest of an elegant Second Empire vest in black velvet embroidered with purple and green flowers and yellow pastilles. Shawl collar, cross closure with eight embroidered buttons (one button missing). Original back in brown glazed cotton twill and light brown cotton chintz lining (stains and oxidation). Two side pockets and buckle tab on the back. Note an invisible repair on the chest and a slight patina of the velvet. Good general state of conservation and color. Portable today. Dimensions: Equivalent to men's size 48-50. front height 50 cm, waist 84 cm, shoulders 40 cm, chest 97 cm.
