In the 19th century, Lyon was a true hotbed of initiative and creativity. Confectioners played a vital role in the city, producing treats, sweets and sweets. Sugar, once an exotic and precious commodity, became popular thanks to the exploitation of sugar beets. Confectionery shops, considered luxury goods, were located in areas frequented by the wealthiest, such as Place de La Comédie.
In Blackened Pear wood it offers brass net inlays, decorated in its center with a porcelain cartridge with a floral motif, Lyon being in the 19th century the first French horticultural center.
This box rests on four bronze feet and the original key works perfectly.
