"Chalice, Paten And Spoon In Vermeil And Brass – Circa 1600 "
Our chalice with its vermeil bowl and multi-lobed Gothic foot in gilded brass is adorned with a bow decorated with baroque style angels. The base is engraved with a crucifix with Memento Mori and various baroque elements.
A work from the late Gothic or early Renaissance period, circa 1590-1620.
Similar models were made in Bruges during this period. Literature: “Meesterwerken van de Brugse Edelsmeedkunst, Dominique Marcehal, Stichting Kunstboek, P. 68”. Total gross weight of 384 grams Chalice of 20.5 cm.
Diameter of the paten 14 cm. Celebration Spoon and Paten are probably from a later period.
