Interesting testimony to the originality and refinement of tableware in the 19th century. Here made by a jeweler, this beautiful suite of salt cellars breaks free from traditional codes, seeking inspiration in the great styles of the French 18th century for an object imbued with a certain humor and poetry. Rare to find, even more so in such a state of conservation, these objects are of great purity and infinite quality of finish, making the choice of purity in terms of ornament but of infinite care and precision in the details, from the little feet finished with a ball to the handles and hooks of the ladles, and a luxury of all jewelry with beautiful silver-gilt inside the cauldrons and on the spoons of the ladles.
Two comparable pieces by SAVAGE & LYMAN are kept at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec[1].
