Rare oil on cardboard by Jeanne Soubourou representing a landscape signed lower left, titled on the back "Le Cars jardin de la mairie" Format of the painting alone 36x25cm or 44.5x36cm including frame. It is therefore a very pretty post-impressionist composition by Jeanne Soubourou representing a Limousin landscape, more precisely the garden of the town hall in Les Cars, which is a small village about thirty kilometers from Limoges. His touch is very good and very professional, of course very close to that of his master, Charles Bichet, a Limougeaud painter and of the Crozant school which I no longer present. As for her palette, it is made of shades of green, pink, mauve, beige, red etc... Jeanne Soubourou was therefore an artist from Limogeau, enameller above all, she produced sublime pieces in the spirit of Art Deco and Nabi, several are kept at the Museum of Fine Arts in Limoges, and some hunts in churches or chapels in the same city. Among the enamellers trained at the active National School of Decorative Arts in Limoges, we think of Jeanne Soubourou (1879-1968), student of the painter Charles-Théodore Bichet. Painter and watercolorist, she creates works of a religious nature, landscapes and beautiful bouquets of flowers (hydrangeas, anemones), of course very colorful. She was noted in 1926 for her champlevés and participated in the revival of contemporary enamel alongside Léon Jouhaud. The BAL has one of its magnificent plaques, soberly titled Landscape (1950s), where the brick and blue roofs of a village emerge between the green trees and the blue hills.
