"Dog Kennel From The End Of The 19th Century Forming A Louis XVI Style Stool"
Dog kennel from the end of the 19th century forming a molded and painted wooden stool, cubic in shape, with fluted uprights and beribboned crosspieces resting on four baluster legs. Fabric trim with floral decoration in perfect condition. Quality work in Louis XVI style. History: The very term “niche” appears in inventories in the 17th century. We previously preferred that of a chest then of a dog crate. Few examples of dog kennels from the 18th century have survived. It is then a small piece of furniture made of tapestry and not cabinetmaking, with a wicker or wooden structure lined with fabric and provided with a mattress.
