"Gabbeh Rug, 148 X 196 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool, Iran, 1970-1980, Very Good Condition, Thickness 2.5 Cm"
Heavy and dense Gabbeh in hand-knotted wool circa 1970-1980, modern decorative rug, on the floor or on the wall.
This rug measures 148 cm wide by 196 cm long for a comfortable wool thickness of 2.5 cm.
This magnificent bright, thick, comfortable piece has great modernity, it can be placed on the wall like a wool painting or on the floor.
# The last two photos show:

See page 3 a Gabbeh of 143 x 197 cm at the price of 1890€
I like to find "real beautiful Gabbeh", impeccable from the 70s and 80s and especially decorative like contemporary art paintings, to be placed on the floor or on the wall.
Gabbeh means “raw, natural, whole” in Farsi, one of the Persian languages.
It meant a carpet which is characterized by a coarse and rather primitive pattern.
Mainly tied by the Gashghai nomads of the Fars province, in the southwest of Iran.
These rugs are probably the most famous hand-knotted nomadic rugs from Iran because they are very fashionable today.
They are made of wool on wool, the wool is spun by hand, for both the velvet and the warp.
The yarn of these rugs is always dyed with dyes of vegetable or mineral origin.
These rugs are much thicker than other Persian rugs, sometimes reaching up to 2.5cm - 3cm thick with very tight long pile.
No fringes for these pieces, a large rope surrounds the whole thing.
The pattern of the carpet is often of a simple type, sometimes with only a few insertions of decorative panels, mostly rectangular, containing stylized animals.
Over the last five decades, weavers, to satisfy the desires of Westerners, have begun to use large light fields on Gabbeh carpets with sparse decoration that are very popular for their simplicity.
## We come across some very flowery old models on bright fields of yellow, red, orange, you will find some on our Proantic gallery.
These carpets certainly benefited from the influence of the Baluchis, further north.
This rug is in very good condition intended for a lover of decorative nuggets from this era, its brilliant colors are of rare great beauty. Dimensions: Width: 148 cm (54") x Length: 196 cm (77")
