Russian Orthodox Icon Oclade Sterling Silver Hsp Jesus St John The Baptist 19th

Russian Orthodox icon composed of an oil on panel representing the Child Jesus seated on the knees of the Virgin Mary, blessing Saint John the Baptist as a child, and his oclade* in finely chiseled solid silver, Russian hallmarks (84 + goldsmith), d '19th century period. This icon is in good overall condition. The solid silver setting is hallmarked on the edge (see photo). Note: some slight dents on the silver, scratches and wear from time, see photos (see red arrows). * The “oclades” or metal covering can be made of sculpted silver, encrusted with enamel or even pearls, and are used for icons which have enabled a miracle. There are several kinds of oclade: the “Basma” which only covers the frame of the object. And the “Riza” which covers the bottom of the icon and leaves only the bodies of the characters visible.
