"Large Golden Mirror With Parecloses Napoleon 3"
Large gilded mirror with Napoléon 3 beadings. Dating from the second half of the 19th century, this beautiful mirror still retains its original leaf gilding. Inspired by the "rocaille" decor, dear to the 18th century, it is topped with a rare pediment, asymmetrical and very openwork giving it a lot of lightness unlike most more massive pediments, here the decoration is made up of scrolls of acanthus leaves intertwine, The central mirror highlighted is beveled and surrounded by a bead with an egg and interlacing pattern. Positioned slightly inclined, 4 beveled mirrors frame and present the center, which seems to be mounted as a pendant, held by clips at the corners, always in foliage and openwork. The finishing strip, surrounding the whole, takes the form of a tor with spaced foliage which is flanked by rockery cut into cockscombs. The mirrors are in perfect condition and are all original, the wood has no restoration and is entirely original, as is the gold leaf gilding. Note 2 very small accidents, the gilding shows some wear and reveals the red plate in places, giving a beautiful patina and above all the authenticity of the object. Dimensions 1m10 x 1m50
