"Large Mahogany Bookcase, Louis XVI Style – Mid-19th Century"
This large bookcase in solid and veneered mahogany opens with two glass doors with a miter-cut frame in moiré mahogany veneer highlighted with molded strips with brass grooves. These openings are equipped with an original working lock with ribbon and key entry. This piece of furniture has a drawer underneath at the level of the lower crosspiece with a half-round molding with square, an authentic lock, a similar entrance and two drop handles in bronze. The projection uprights are covered with two attached columns in solid mahogany, with fixed grooves which are profiled over the height of the piece of furniture. The upper crosspiece is crafted in an identical spirit with molding and central part with knockout. The gradient molding cornice follows the lines of this bookcase. The sides, with a miter-cut frame, are each trimmed with a moiré mahogany panel. The whole rests on four spinning top legs with brass collars and rings. The interior offers four shelves, on racks, whose edges are refined by small grooves.
