Just before the Second World War, Rusov studied at the Vyborg Art Workshop in Leningrad, before being evacuated to Gorky in December 1941. In 1945, he transferred to the Tavricheskaya Art School, where he graduated in 1947. In 1955, he became a member of the Leningrad section of artists of the Soviet Union. His works are exhibited in museums and private collections in Russia, Norway, Great Britain, Sweden, the United States, France, etc.
