Milk jug
Painted soft porcelain
Hollow mark D.V
Dimensions : H. 13 (cm.)
Mennecy, circa 1760
A very elegant milk jug. Small in size, it is decorated with bouquets and fillets of blue and old roses. The lid has a very fine imitation of a flower.
Probably produced during the Barbin or Evrard period (between 1748 and 1766). This piece may therefore have been decorated in Paris or Mennecy.
Provenance: Société Industrielle de Mulhouse for over a century, a learned society founded in 1826 by Protestant industrialists, is notably recognised as being of public utility by a royal decree of 1832.
