"Spectacular Vermeil Monstrance – Circa 1840 Martin Et Dejean"
Imposing, our monstrance is entirely in vermeil and has a gilded metal lunula. The rocaille style quadripod base is decorated with scrolls and acanthus leaves. It is decorated with the Lamb of the Apocalypse and vine branches.
The angel Gabriel stands with his arms crossed on a globe surrounded by the serpent seeking the apple. The upper part is decorated with heads of angels in the clouds surrounded by glory and classically crowned with the Cross. Minerva hallmark.
Hallmark of master Parisian goldsmiths, MARTIN and DEJEAN active between 1837 and 1846.
A piece that would have its place in a cathedral.
