Allegory Of Duty, Bronze After émile Picault, Last Quarter Of The 19th Century flag

Object description :

"Allegory Of Duty, Bronze After émile Picault, Last Quarter Of The 19th Century"

An armed soldier rests the point of his sword on a shield engraved with the motto Honor Patria. The allegory is clear: the soldier's honor is due to his duty to his homeland. If it seems that the creation of the sculpture dates from the 1880s, it is reminiscent of the feeling of revenge which animates the country, only ten years after the defeat against the Prussian army. This bronze has a beautiful brown patina and is in perfect condition.
