Consists of superimposing several layers of paint, very diluted, with the addition of a very rich "lacquer medium". as a siccative. As a result, it allows rapid drying. This ancient technique requires a lot of time and patience, but it gives unparalleled transparency. 1st step (1), the artist begins with a very precise watercolor drawing which will be the “model” of the future canvas, because the latter will not admit of any repentance. 2nd step (2,3), the artist here begins his canvas with a dark background to move, gradually through successive layers, towards the light. After 3 or 4 passes (4.5) of this juice made of oil paint diluted with “lacquer medium”, the paint increasingly accentuates the light, especially that diffused by the bodies, this gives this pearly side to the feminine chairs and keeps the mysterious side of the surrounding shadows.
