"Virgin And Child From The 18th Century In Linden"
18th century Virgin and Child in Linden Statue of beautiful mastery of sculpture, it is in lime treated in "round hump", representing the Virgin Mary and the child Jesus. Made from a main piece of basswood for its central part, the forearms are assembled, just like the knot of the cape. We note small remains of coating in the background, indicating that originally this sculpture was polychrome or perhaps gilded, the sculpting work being already well accomplished, we can assume that the original finish was very detailed , since the coatings were worked with small irons in order to accentuate and add details. We acquired it, with this beautiful color close to walnut and its beautiful waxed patina offering a soft reflection. It rests on a new base in black-stained exotic wood. In a good state of conservation, the wood is healthy, note some small gaps, including those already mentioned. Height of the statue: 50.5cm Height with the base: 64.5cm
