"Royalist Engraving Signed Bosselman, Profile Of The Royal Family Of France, Louis XVI / XVII"
Old engraving dating from the end of the 18th century. Very beautiful subject depicting the royal family of France presented in profile. King Louis XVI, Queen Marie Antoinette, young Louis XVII and Madame Royale. Engraving signed by Bosselman Work presented in a glazed gilded wood frame 12.5cm x 11cm In good condition Miniaturist from the Sèvres Manufacture and dot engraver, he exhibited mythological paintings at the Salons of 1806, 1810, 1812 and 1819. As an engraver, he provided the publisher Ostervald and several of his colleagues with abundant political, religious, sentimental and gallant imagery. Only once, around 1820, did he try his hand at lithography. In all genres, it rivals the smooth roundness of biscuits or wax mannequins, an ideal then very widespread, particularly among its pointillist colleagues.
