"Pair Of Louis XV Corner Cabinets Stamped Jean Saddon, 18th Century"
Pair of Louis XV corner cabinets with curved fronts in veneer: satin and violet wood. They each open with two beautifully curved leaves both horizontally and in elevation. the doors are inlaid with a satin veneer arranged in a curling pattern and centered with a violet wood reserve. The frame of the violet wood doors is scrolled. They each rest on four legs, three of which are on the front, the curved uprights with pinched ribs end in a arched foot. Beautiful ornamentation of gilded bronzes such as: falls, keyholes and sabots. The veined marble tops are molded with a corbin beak. (the marble is assembled in two parts connected by staples below, see photos) They are stamped by Jean SADDON as well as the JME, the date of his mastery is not is not known. The locks and door bolts are original, the interior is oak. Beautiful Parisian work for this pair of perfectly curved corners with remarkable know-how in the construction of the doors and the positioning of the pivots.
