Still life, bouquet of various flowers in light shades which stand out against a textured background with gold reflections. Detail of a butterfly. Gilded wood frame decorated with palmettes and scrolls in light reliefs. Workshop or followers of Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840). Belgian painter, watercolorist and engraver. Introduced to the Court of Versailles in 1788, where he became a designer and painter for the Cabinet of Queen Marie-Antoinette. Ten years later, he was the official painter of Joséphine de Beauharnais. Well known for his botanical plates, he gave drawing lessons at the Paris Natural History Museum at the beginning of the 19th century. Today buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery.
