The painting has recently spent a few months with our conservator. During this time, she meticulously cleaned the artwork and retouched a few minor areas where the paint had flaked. She also stabilized the paint and applied a new varnish. As a result, the painting is now in a very good condition. Additionally, it comes with a new, gilded gold frame that enhances its overall presentation.

Essay:

We are pleased to offer a stunning painting by the Swedish artist Alfred Bergström. This artwork captures a magnificent sunset over a tranquil landscape. The setting sun casts a warm, golden light that illuminates the clouds with shades of red and pink, creating a breathtaking scene. The painting is a masterful example of Bergström's ability to capture the transient beauty of natural light and its effects on the environment.

About the Artist: Alfred Bergström was born on January 15, 1869, in Stockholm and passed away on November 15, 1930, in Tullinge. He was a prominent Swedish painter, watercolorist, and etcher, and served as a professor at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. Bergström's artistic journey included studies at the Academy from 1887 to 1891, where he was awarded the Royal Medal in his final year. He further honed his skills in France between 1894 and 1895.

Bergström was particularly known for his landscape paintings, often depicting the serene beauty of Swedish nature as well as scenes from his travels in France, North Africa, and the Netherlands. His works are celebrated for their atmospheric qualities and nuanced light effects.
