Manufacture de Nast
Also known as the Manufacture de la rue Popincourt, it owes its success to its acquisition by Jean-Népomucène Hermann Nast in 1783. It was the start of a dynasty that lasted until the 1830s. Talented chemists and decorators, they were responsible for the processes of thick gold and wheel decoration, for example.
The Taillandier or "partridge eye" background
Thanks to the preservation of two Sèvres "milk" goblets, dated 1766 and 1767, it is possible to date the appearance of the Taillandier base quite precisely. It is composed of a solid colour against which white circles with irregular outlines stand out. Authorship of this design is shared between the eponymous Taillandier and Jean-Baptiste Tandart, another talented craftsman from the manufactory.
