Magnificent copy of this rare historical, civil, ecclesiastical and topographical Almanac of the city and diocese of Reims for the year M DCC Reims Choice copy very well bound: binding with period arms in green morocco, decoration with golden lace frames on the covers, richly decorated spine, and coat of arms of the city of Reims in the center of the two covers, displaying the motto "God be on guard". Some rubbing.Gilded edges and interior contreplats magnificently decorated with gold paper (endpapers also of the same paper), gold lace borders. Fresh interior, some rare foxing, overall very well preserved and solid notebooks without shifts. Note a small marginal tear on one page, with no missing text.
Very complete with the fold-out table on the state of baptisms and the state of the sick, page 52.
A superb specimen of a "jewel book", the Reims almanac is one of the particularly unusual regional almanacs, particularly in such neat bindings.
