"Large Stoneware Dish Mohamed Mandour Born 1964 Egypt Ceramic In The Style Of Picasso "
44.5cm in diameter Mohamed Mandour grew up in the neighborhood of the Amr ibn el-Aas mosque in Foustat, where he practiced pottery from childhood to shape traditional shapes such as the Kalol, the Azar and the jug . His presence in this rich archaeological region played an important role in the genesis and maturity of the artist. Mandour's works include dishes of various sizes and are distinguished by a technique that alternates rough and soft surface textures. He has organized 24 exhibitions in Egypt and abroad and has won numerous awards, the most important of which are the French Cultural Center and the Public Culture Prize, the International Triennale of Ceramics in Cairo in 1992, 1994 and 2002, and the Venice Biennale in Italy in 1998.
