"Portrait Of A General Officer From The Louis XV Period In Its Original Frame In Carved And Gilded Wood"
French School of the 18th century, large oil on canvas portrait of an aristocratic officer in breastplate, black bow tie and wig, early Louis XV period around 1740. It is presented in a very beautiful rocaille frame in carved and gilded wood, Provençal work from the mid-18th century. Given the richness of the gold breastplate, the purple coat with fur lapels and the white belt, it is undoubtedly a superior officer, certainly of high birth, but unfortunately not identified to date. The painting is in excellent condition, no repainting on the face, on its original canvas in its beautiful original frame in carved and gilded wood from the Louis XV period, gold leaf gilding cleaned by our gilder. The frame has retained its original 18th century gilding. Frame: 98cm x 86cm Canvas: 81cm x 63cm
