"Democratic Republic Of Congo, Bakongo People Around 1950, Statue Of A High Ranking Character"
Menguy painting and Bakongo statue My dear, Here are the two new announcements: 1180 euros for the Menguy painting and 320 euros for the statue. All photos are retouched. THANKS. Baci dolci. MENGUY (Frédéric), born in Paris on January 28, 1927 and died in Paris on March 23, 2007 (Ec. Fr.). Very early on, passionate about drawing and painting, Frédéric MENGUY trained in evening classes in the workshops of the city of Paris. In 1956, then a professor of art drawing, he devoted himself entirely to painting and lithography. From 1966, after discovering the Corbières massif where he settled for a time, his painting became very colorful. Patrice de la Perrière paid tribute to him by affirming that behind an ostentatious joy, the paintings of Frédéric MENGUY send us back a certain nostalgia for our childish soul. The works of Frédéric MENGUY appear in many renowned private collections. Some were also acquired by the French state. This superb work, an oil on canvas from the 1970s titled “White Flowers”, is a reflection of the talent of this great artist. Signature at the bottom left of the composition. Dimensions: Height 55 cm. Width 46 cm (72.5 cm x 63.5 cm with its frame). Work in good condition. Some normal wear and tear to the frame. A certificate of authenticity committing us to the content of this announcement will be drawn up and given to the purchaser. We take particular care with our packaging by using optimum protection. Democratic Republic of Congo, Bakongo people, circa 1950, very pretty hardwood statue with red patina reflecting the stylistic characteristics of the Loango region. This statue represents a high-ranking character seated on a stool, his legs outstretched and holding a weapon and a bow in his arms. The very expressive face inspires authority. Total height 21.5 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a brand known to everyone. Good condition except for slight normal wear and tear.
