The dial is protected by beveled glass surrounded by a frieze of golden pearls. Enamelled, it has a double row of Arabic numerals (in black) and Roman numerals (in blue).
It is signed by F. Barbedienne in Paris.
The dial is enclosed on either side by the head of a “Turkish” character wearing an egret turban.
A large laurel garland surrounds the clock and is held by a central ring.
The whole rests on a chiseled plate on which rest two windings covered with acanthus leaves.
The clock is topped at the top by an Antique vase surrounded by a fringed fabric.
On the fabric rests a double chain supporting 2 medallions.
On each medallion there is a Pigeon in flight, one of the two holding a sealed letter.
The clock is in working order and strikes the hours and half-hours.
The mechanism deserves an overhaul, like any old clock.
Some wear to the gilding should be noted, as well as a missing rear top foot.
This does not affect stability, and objectively does not constitute a significant aesthetic detriment.
This beautiful clock, with its rich Louis XVI style vocabulary and the rare presence of “Turkish” characters, has a strong personality.
