Beautiful drawing, with squaring, charcoal and red chalk by Joseph Milner Kite. Signed lower right and dated 1898. Dimensions at sight 61x37 cm, and 65 x41 cm with the frame. British painter, student of Bouguereau and Laurens at the Jullian Academy, Joseph Milner Kite met Roderick O'Conor there with whom he became friends and went with him to Pont Aven at the end of the 1880s. He will become one of the central figures of the Anglo-Saxon colony in Pont Aven and Concarneau and will exhibit Breton subjects at the Paris Salon and at the Royal Academy in London. Note two visible tears to be restored on the drawing.
