Cambodia, 1960s, superb and very important ceramic head with fired stoneware base made from the sculpted sandstone work kept at the Guimet Museum (national museum of Asian arts) in Paris and representing the Khmer king Jayavarman VII (1120/25 – 1218) in middle age, his face marked with humility and captured in a moment of meditation. His eyes are lowered and his lips display the “Angkor smile”. Total height 47 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a brand known to everyone.
