Iranian wool rug, cotton warp and weft, circa 1960. Very good condition. The borders were restored in our workshop. Normal wear and tear given the age of the carpet. Strong and durable mat.

Former nomadic population of ancient Eastern Armenia (Eastern Turkey) and Iranian Azerbaijan, Afshar groups are located in Khorasan (north-eastern Iran), in the southern region of Kerman ( southern Iran) and in Fars (Southwest Iran).
This afchar from the Kerman region was woven by the afchars from around Shahre Babak. The asymmetrical central medallion gives an authentic charm to this creation. Representations of 'göl' (flowers) and geometric patterns throughout the rug. Some abraches (term designating a variation of tones in the same color).
